The main city beach in Crikvenica celebrates this year it´s 120th birthday.
One of the first maintained beaches in Europe, the formation of an artificial sandy beach began back in 1894, when during the construction of the Hotel Archduke Franz Josph (now the "Kvarner Palace"), constructed and known as Hungarian baths.
This year for the 16th time, the beach got the Blue Flag, a prestigious international eco - stamps, which implies a high level of quality  clean sea and shore, and facilities on the beach.
The beach is 1.6 kilometers long and has an area total of 30,000 m2, so thatit stands out even in size.
Beach has three modern complexes of sanitary facilities. Toilets for the disabled are equipped so that persons with reduced mobility allow enough room, and lock with the assistance of the European key. StreamlinedThis each the beach was enriched with a sunbathing area for the disabled, and sea access is provided via a special crane with a wheelchair. The beach disposes of sufficient sets of showers and bathers can use it free of charge. On the beach there are two playgrounds, a volleyball court, boat rental service, watersport service (parachute, banana, ski, tube, flyfish, wakeboard), trampolines and entertainment facility and massage service. There are two restaurants, one of which a high-class restaurant, with the prestigious stamp "Kvarner Gourmet".

There is special attention given to safety, with three security towers, so the possibility of accidents is minimized.
The old promenade at the beach area is partialy reconstructed, and next year it will be reconstruct complitely and become a part of the existing town's walking promenade from the city center to Jadranovo and form an attraction for tourist especially in  the off season.
