Exhibition: "Early Croatian cemeteries in the Vinodol area"
To mark 600 years of Crikvenica, Crikvenica Town Museum will present several aspects of local medieval history. Since the end of January, the museum has hosted the exhibition "Early Croatian cemeteries in the Vinodol area", which is a result of collaboration between Crikvenica Town Museum and the History and Maritime Museum of the Croatian Littoral in Rijeka. This fascinating and educational exhibition presents for the first time in Crikvenica the rich and valuable archaeological material that has been found in early medieval cemeteries in the Vinodol region, displaying items from four Early Croatian cemeteries in Vinodol: Križišće-Veli Dol, Tribalj-Sv. Marija, Tribalj-Njivice, and Stranče-Gorica. The majority of exhibits are from the Stranče-Gorica cemetery, which is one of the most important early medieval cemeteries in Croatia, and dates back to the period from the end of the 8th century until the end of the 11th century. The beauty, richness and diversity of the items tell the story of the life, customs and beliefs of the first Croats who lived in the Vinodol area, introducing us to the magical period of the Middle Ages. The "Early Croatian cemeteries in the Vinodol area" exhibition in Crikvenica Town Museum will run until the end of April 2012.
