Feasts of patron saints
Each village along the Crikvenica Riviera has always celebrated the feast of its own patron saint. Dramalj celebrates the feast of St. Helen on the 22nd of May; Jadranovo, St. James on the 25th of July; Crikvenica, the Assumption of Mary on the 15th of August; and Selce, St. Catherine on the 25th of November. Every year, Crikvenica holds a festival dedicated to its central public holiday (14th of August), known as Crikvenica Days. This includes numerous cultural, entertainment and sporting events, exhibitions, theatrical and folklore performances, literary evenings, concerts, sailing regattas and the traditional Šilo-Crikvenica swimming marathon, which is one of the oldest events of its kind in Croatia. The Feast of St. James, locally known as Jakovlja, the central summer event in Jadranovo, takes place in July before the feast of St. James, the patron saint of this town.
