Weekend ahead Crikvenica returns 2,000 years in the past, in ancient times and the colorful world of the Romans.
From 20 to 21 July in Crikvenica will hold the Ad turres days, an cultural and entertainment events based on valuable archaeological heritage.
Why Ad turres? Archaeological excavations on "Igralište" site confirmed that  Ad turres was the ancient name for Crikvenice and that the historical development of the city has been going on for more than 2,000 years. In addition, the detected local pottery workshop and amphorae production from Sextus Metilio Maxim, used architectural ceramics, which is unique on the Croatian territory. Among the many findings worth mentioning the unique type of Roman amphora, which is named according to the site on which it was discovered and its official name is the Adriatic amphorae flat bottom type Crikvenica.
We will have a weekend filled with interesting program with ancient music and gastronomy, Bacchanalia (dinner in honor of the god Bacchus),  imperial procession, gladiator fights, sale of slaves,  presentation of ancient crafts, antique entertainers and tamer of fire. Children  will be playing games from ancient times. The programme will be held at two locations:
in the center of Crikvenica, on the Stjepan Radic Square and the archaeological site  "Ad turres", where the lighting of an antique stove and making ceramic items will hold place. Archery competition, ancient  football play,  presentation of the Roman camp, antique gastronomy and legionnaire school will also be a part of the event.
